something to think about

there is a fine line, i believe, in making good choices while we are on this earth and then becoming extreme about those choices... making them an idol of sorts. i wish to not be, "the extreme", however, some may say i am. i do get rather passionate at times about food, parenting, doctrine, etc. i think God asks of us to do the best we can with what He gives, and leave the rest up to Him.

there are the specific laws of the bible... God should be first, no idols, do not use the Lord's name in vain, etc... and then there are those gray areas where things, for me, used to get tricky. for example, when we were newly married, we looked for answers to birth control, how to discipline our kids, and more recently, food. the things that there was no specific "law" for, and everyone had advice to. so, we asked several seasoned christian adults in our life to help us answer these questions and the answer was consistent... "pray, pray, pray and be guided by the Holy Spirit. some things are specific to us all, and somethings are individual. let the Lord lead you". i loved this advice because it took the fear of making the wrong decision off. if we would allow God to melt our heart, we would know what to do. (we aren't perfect at this yet btw!!)

with all of that said, i read this article about the use of plastic concerning food. again, i feel this is individual, and so did the author. it just had some great points and was something i felt worth sharing. something i thought we might be able to glean from and take what we feel the Lord would have us use for our home, and spit the rest out.

be blessed!
